Pirates’ Zimbabwean star target’s price revealed
Following recent comments by Highlanders CEO Denzel Mnkandla regarding Orlando Pirates’ reported interest in Prince Ndlovu, further details have now emerged around the potential asking price for the highly rated midfielder.
In December, Mnkandla made it clear that the Bulawayo-based club had not received any official approach from Pirates for the youngster, despite growing speculation linking him with a move away from Zimbabwean football.
However, interest in Ndlovu is believed to extend beyond South Africa, with reports also suggesting that European clubs are monitoring his situation.
Sources close to the club in Zimbabwe have now indicated what Highlanders would be looking for should they decide to part ways with the promising midfielder. An insider has revealed to the Siya crew that the club would demand a fee in the region of USD40,000 (approximately R659,696) to sanction a transfer.
“Considering his age and potential ceiling, I would say USD40k (R659 696). This is based on the market in Zimbabwe. Remember Mafious Chihweta, a player of a similar profile and age to him, went to Scottland FC for USD50k (R823 000). So I would say USD40k is a starting point, nothing less,” the source revealed to Soccer Laduma.
Meanwhile, the insider further stated that demands could be subject to a change since the Zimbabwean Premiership League season is starting.
“Yes. Also, going into the new season, you never know, form may dictate how much it goes up,” the source observed.
The 19-year-old once spent time in 2023 training with Orlando Pirates, and its believed that the Houghton-based club has since been monitoring the progress of the now 19-year-old.
