Mosimane talks about rumoured links with Kaizer Chiefs

South African veteran coach Pitso Mosimane has once again spoken about the possibility of taking charge at Kaizer Chiefs.

Mosimane and his rich technical team have been unattached since parting ways with Iran Pro League side Esteghlal F.C. due to payment issues in January.

Since then, several supporters and club legends of the Naturena-based giants have been calling for his appointment.

Now, with the futures of Chiefs’ co-head coaches Khalil Ben Youssef and Cedric Kaze appearing uncertain, some fans are once again advocating for Mosimane to take the job.

Mosimane, the former Mamelodi Sundowns mentor, has also now confirmed that he remains ready to take the reins at the Glamour Boys whenever the opportunity arises.

“I have answered this question so many times, but I understand that it will always come back. I have said it, I never say never. I’m a football coach. I’m a professional coach,” Mosimane said on 947’s MSW.

“Why should I not coach Kaizer Chiefs? Why should I not coach Orlando Pirates? Why should I not coach Mamelodi Sundowns?

“I am a professional. I am a football coach. Anytime there is a request, anytime there is a proposition or an approach, we are humble enough. I mean, Rea (his son) is at Kaizer Chiefs. I’m there every second week. Every second week, I’m at Kaizer Chiefs watching Rea play.

“I am there physically, so maybe, I don’t know, maybe one day it will happen. But you can’t put the reason on why he is not hired. You can only put it on me once it’s on the table. Then you can ask me, are you accepting it, or you didn’t accept it, or what is the point? But I don’t want to talk about something that doesn’t exist,” he added.

“It’s like I go to the stadium now when Chiefs is playing. I’m in the grandstand, and everybody sees me, and the cameras might come across, and then I’m putting the coaches on the bench under pressure, marketing myself. I don’t need to do that.

“If I have a problem with Kaizer Chiefs, this man [Rea] is playing at Kaizer Chiefs every week, and I go there every week, what is the issue? Why not? I’m a professional.”
