Pirates bid farewell to Lepasa

A month ago, I profiled few players who are most likely to leave the club either permanently or on loan and that was on our YouTube channel. I spoke about Goodman Mosele, Azola Tshobeni, Ndabayithethwa Ndlondlo, Zakhele Lepasa and Boitumelo Radiopane and so far, only Radioman is still with the club.

Now with the club having announced the departure of striker Zakhele Lepasa, those who are honest enough will tell you that this decision was long coming because the player had become injury prone and his injuries keeps him out for more than six months of which it was not making business sense despite all his qualities. I see this as a win win situation for the club and the player. Orlando Pirates will have an opportunity to bring a striker or two before the transfer window shuts in September and that will create a healthy competition while for Lepasa, will provide him with an opportunity to get offers without pressure so that he can opt for the one that makes business sense especially with his injuries not really kind to his career.

Zakhele Lepasa is a mobile number 9 with a good level of arrogance that you require from a player who is confidence in his talents and any club that will take a gamble on him will benefit greatly especially if he manages to stay injury free and play at least 75% of the games this season. With AFCON coming in less than five months and Hugo Broos going to monitor his progress wherever he will be playing his club football, chances are that he will be motivated to get a club as soon as possible so that he can hit the ground running and stand a good chance to make the AFCON squad. All the best Zakes.

Orlando Pirates have confirmed that striker Zakhele Lepasa has officially parted ways with the club, bringing an end to a long period of uncertainty surrounding his future. Speculation had been building in recent weeks, especially after Lepasa was listed as “unattached” in Bafana Bafana’s official squad for the upcoming African Nations Championship (CHAN).
