Is Kabelo Dlamini heading the exit door at Pirates

Coach Abdeslam Ouaddou is just on his first season and has already shown clarity with how he wants his team to play especially with high intensity on both phases of play and anyone who seems not to be made for this kind of approach, is most likely to be shown the door at Pirates to create space for players who can fit in and meet the demands head on.

The departure of prolific Tshegofatso Mabasa to Stellenbosch FC on loan it’s just a reminder that the Morrocan-French tactician is not going to compromise his convictions on how he believes the game should be played and as long as he remains at the helm, chances of Mabasa returning next season are very minimal. Now there are few players that can also find themselves in the same space and the one that quickly comes to mind is none other than the mercurial talent of Kabelo Dlamini who hasn’t seen much of the action.

While the magical playmaker’s talents can’t be put into questions especially with his ability to bring fluidity and finding gaps against low block sides, is not known for intensity in his game and considering that the club brought in Andre De Jong to specifically operate between the lines as 10 or false 9, while Tito is there and Mofokeng preferred in the hole, the former Bloemfontein Celtic left footed playmaker could soon find himself leaving the club.

Though I was not happy with the decision of letting go of Mabasa especially at this stage of the season when his goalscoring prowess were going to be needed since not your championship winning goalscorer, I had to understand that the coach has a certain way that he sees the game of which needs to be respected because at the end of the day, he’s the one who is going to account for the performance and results of the team and so must be given all the support in his decisions especially when they are at the best interest of the club. Now with Dlamini having analysed him over the years in this platform with regards to his strengths and weaknesses, I think he’s most likely to leave at the end of the season unless if the coach feels that he has other elements of the game that can compensate for his lack of required intensity.
