Sibisi’s days numbered in Pirates’ defense
Being the Skipper of the side even for an institution of the highest magnitude like Orlando Pirates FC doesn’t make one immune to find himself on the bench or in the stands and featuring more regularly during trophy presentation as it was the case with former Skipper Innocence Maela towards the end of his career at Orlando Pirates Football Club and will go down as one of the most successful captains of the club like Skipper Lucky Lekgwathi.
Now considering that Mpho Chabatsane is most likely to feature more in the coming weeks at the heart of defence bringing his cultured left foot to balance the team so that they can build up and progress the ball with metronomic proficiency, Abdeslam Ouaddou will be left only with one spot next to Chabatsane and that’s where he will have to think deep and hard to make a decision. Since the Moroccan-French tactician has already shown that is not afraid to make tough choices, Nkosinathi Sibisi could find himself falling into the sword as more technically accomplished defenders in Sesane and Lebone Seema will be preferred. From the technical aspect, Seema and Sesane are far more flawless and their calmness have always helped Sibisi since he’s not yet beyond rashness.
My people who are reading to understand not only to respond please listen, I’m not saying Sibisi is bad in anyway but I’m just highlighting an important aspect of the game. At times, coach Jose Riveiro tried as much by giving Innocent Maela some minutes even at centreback late in the second half and that kept him in the Bafana Bafana squad as Broos really liked him up until the Spanish tactician started being honest with his Skipper. Sibisi’s leadership Will be needed in the title race and perhaps somewhere next season, that’s where we are going to see what I’m talking about slowly but surely happening. I don’t think the coach would want to disrupt things prematurely especially at this stage of the season but has already shown that he’s someone who doesn’t betray his convictions.
Of all Bucs centrebacks currently in the squad, Sibisi is less technically gifted than Seema, Sesane and Chabatsane so if Ouaddou will look for purely technical quality, anticipation and intelligence, then the Skipper will definitely fall on the sword. Orlando Pirates will most definitely bring in a centreback in the new season since I don’t see Tapelo Xoki Staying beyond this season and hopefully that particularly centreback will be athletic and excellent in the air to bring what is lacking there since Caf champions league has exposed us in this aspect.
